I just adore this wedding! Tucked away in the gardens of Cambria Pines Lodge, Katie & Reilly’s day was a darling display of DIY charm. Some of my favorite examples are the hand-made chalkboard signs from recycled wood and the photo booth backdrop, which was created from an old barn door!
This wedding also doubles as a great example of why you should trust your wedding photographer, which Katie and Reilly did immensely by allowing me to take them off-location for their first portraits as husband & wife…. to a place they have never been or even seen! Yep. Weeks earlier, I had been on a mission to find them a private, offsite location for their portraits to mix things up visually as well as allow them to enjoy their first moments as husband and wife and a more private and relaxing setting. I drove up and down Cambria and found a few great spots to take them at the time. However, the week of their wedding, I drove out to Cambria once more. First of all, I had just gotten back from freezing cold NYC (blog post of that coming soon) and needed some fresh warm Cali air! But I also had this gut feeling that there was something better out there for their photos together. And my goodness, I found it! After exploring the backroads, I drove by this gorgeous country home that sat atop a hill. A hill that overlooked more hills. With fresh grass, wild mustard, and just a beautiful ambiance. Lucky for me, I spotted a truck at the driveway below. I quickly turned around, drove to the bottom of the driveway and was able to catch a glimpse from the man in his truck. He drove back towards me and I popped my little blonde head up to his window to make my inquiry. And I guess I’m pretty charming! 😉 Needless to say, this spot was a breathtaking place to be, and I had a truly amazing couple to photograph there.
Katie and Reilly both looked spectacular on their wedding day. Reilly and his groomsmen all sported the best Perry Ellis suits. The beautiful bridesmaids wore a soft pink that paired with the elegant earthy tones of the decor and bouquets. And Katie, well she was just a vision in her Panache gown! Plus, get this–the whole bottom half of the gown is remove-able!! Which was perfect for her sparkler send off with Reilly, running through the night, sparks flying, and cheers from family and friends. Congratulations you two!! I’m excited for you to relive your memories through these photos forever.
